Middle School Music

Our music program offers a course for students to develop music fundamentals. Musical potential is one of the basic abilities that exists in every individual. Key elements of making music involve reading, notating, listening, and performing. Student musicians perform as an ensemble under the direction of a leader or conductor as understanding the principles of teamwork and leadership is a valuable lesson in life.

Band

Band offers the student the opportunity to learn the skills required to play a band instrument. They will acquire knowledge in theory, history, performance practice, and musical styles. Students learn to read music, produce tones correctly, and listen for balance and intonation as part of a performing group. The middle school band performs at concerts during the school year and requires a commitment of daily practice outside class.

Orchestra

Orchestra provides opportunities for students to learn the basics of string technique. Students in this course are playing and reading notation, further developing their string technique but primarily are aiming to develop their ensemble playing skills.

Chorus

Choir is a performance-based musical ensemble, giving students an opportunity to explore choral music written in a variety of styles. Singers are introduced to vocal technique and production, music-reading, and music theory. Our choir sings for enjoyment and enrichment with a strong emphasis on vocal skills and performance.
